1968 World Cup Snapshot - Australia co-hosted the World Cup with New Zealand in 1968. Once again record crowds turned out in Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland to watch the games. The first match at the Sydney Cricket Ground saw 62,256 spectators pack the ground to see Australia defeat Great Britain 25 - 10. Australia went through the tournament undefeated and booked a place against France in the final. The French could offer nothing in attack and went down to the Australian's 20 -2, before 54,290 spectators. Australia had become World Cup Champions for the second time.
