The UAERL have announced that their domestic Rugby League Cup, featuring Abu Dhabi Harlequins, Al Ain Amblers, Xodus Wasps and Dubai Sharks, will be sponsored by Nissan Middle East.

The sides will play in a four-round competition, commencing on 17 April at Rugby Park, Dubai Sports City, and Nissan will become the official automobile partner of the UAERL and title sponsors.

“The Nissan Rugby League Cup is the building block of our organisation,” said UAERL president Sol Mokdad.

“As part of our strategy to become Affiliate Members of the RLEF, this championship is an imperative part of our application and ticks a significant box in the list of criteria we have to meet. We have organisational structures and commercial strategies we have in place.”

Mokdad added, “With the international growth of the game, rugby league now has a global appeal. We are using the Nissan Rugby League Cup as a platform to introduce new players to the sport and ultimately increase the number of clubs in the competition.”

Each round of the Nissan Rugby League Cup will comprise of double header matches taking place in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain across the Emirates.
