Rugby league in the Czech Republic has achieved a significant landmark with official recognition of the governing body by the country’s National Sports Agency. The acceptance will allow the CZRLA to apply for grants to aid their development activities including the recruitment of players, further competition structure and training programmes for coaches and match officials.
Prezident of Česká Asociace Rugby League, Lukáš Hergott, commented: “This is a great moment for CZRLA as it emerges from the shadows and is now formally recognized. This concludes many years of commitment by all our members and officials.
“More work lies ahead of us we must now fulfil all the criteria set by the NSA which will give us direction in our development but it sets sensible goals for us. There is one more step, recognition by the Czech Olympic Committee as a non-Olympic sport but huge barrier is behind us. A new era for the CZRLA is here.”
