Midlands Rugby League youngsters set for Serbia

Under 18s players from nine different clubs in the Midlands are set to depart for Belgrade for a two match series against hosts Serbia U18s and Lebanon U18s this week.
The party, the first from the region to tour, departs on Thursday 16th August and returns the following Monday and will represent England in the prestigious event.
Exiles defeat England in second game of International Origin series

The 2nd game of the rugby league International Origin series showed that England need all the help they can get after going down to the Exiles 20 - 32 in what was a low intensity game of rugby league.
England never really got out of first gear against the Exiles. Short of shelving the game England genuinely need more international games if they are any hope of making an impact in the next years Rugby League World Cup.
English coach Steve McNamara would have been disappointed with the performance of the English team. If they had been playing Australia or New Zealand today the scoreline would have been much worse.
England looking to clean sweep Exiles in International Origin Series

Game two of the 2012 rugby league International Origin series takes place in Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield, on Wednesday July 4. Kick off is scheduled for 7.45pm.
England will be looking to clean sweep the two game series after defeating the Exiles 18 -10 at Langtree Park in St Helens. They will also be looking to lift their intensity after coping criticism regarding their lacklustre preformance in game one.
Game one attracted 11,083 fans to the 18,000 seat stadium showing the series still has some way to go in convincing English fans that the International Origin series has the potential to rival the State of Origin series played in Australia.

Top level domestic competition - Super League is the top level rugby league competition in Europe. Currently 14 teams play in the Super League (One from France) . Below the Super League their is the Co-operative Championship and National League Two. The season runs from February to October with the top 8 qualifying for the finals. In 2009 the Super League changed to a franchise system with current and future teams having to meet a criteria set by the Rugby Football League.
Ten best teams in 2007 look towards the 2008 RLWC

The final qualifiers for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup finished up in November. Australia, New Zealand, England, France and Papua New Guinea automatically qualified. The remaining five spots have seen 14 teams compete in the qualifying rounds over the last 2 years. The end result will see arguably the best 10 rugby league nations in the World battle it out in next years World Cup.
