South African Rugby League announces Rhino team to face NSW Country team

South Africa announced a strong squad to take on New South Wales in the international friendly to be played this weekend at Bosman Stadium in Brakpan at 19h00 on Friday evening the 18th of October. The New South Wales Team did very well against the Combined Clubs, winning by fifty points. This Friday, however, they face the national team, The Rhino’s, and it will be a different ball game. A lot of the Rhino Players come from the very successful Student Team who participated in the 2013 Student Rugby League World Cup where the team ended fifth.

SARL Combined Clubs vs New South Wales Country League match report

The first game of the New South Wales Tour saw the team face a Combined Clubs side made up of players from all the rugby league clubs in South Africa. The match was played at Silverton Rugby Club in Pretoria this past Saturday, and although the Combined Clubs team put up a valiant effort, the experience of the New South Wales team in the end proved too much.

Action Motors is the new sponsor of the SARL Combined Clubs Team to play against the New South Wales Country League Team this Saturday at Silverton Rugby Club. Action Motors will be the main sponsor and appear prominently on the front of the jersey for the Combined Clubs.

New South Wales Country League to tour South Africa

In a historic move, New South Wales Country League will be touring South Africa to play two rugby league games this coming October. The NSW Country League Team will first play a SARL Combined Clubs Side at Silverton Rugby Club on the 12th of October at 16hoo in the afternoon as part of their preparations to take on the National Team, The Rhino’s, at Bosman Stadium on the 18th of October at 19hoo in the evening.

The Rhino’s first match will be against New South Wales Country League at Bosman Stadium in Brakpan, Gauteng on the 18th of October 2013. The New South Wales Team will also play a Gauteng Combined Clubs side the 12th of October 2013.

South Africa Student Team with a player down defeat Ireland 42-24

12 man South Africa romped to a 42-24 victory against Ireland, thanks to an inspired Jean Coetzer performance to claim their first win of the tournament.

South Africa’s bright start in their last match against Wales came to nothing as they ended up losing 30-10. However, they were able to take advantage of early dominance against Ireland as they scored three tries in the opening 13 minutes to set the tone of how the game was going to be.

After a close fought game in which South Africa started the brighter of the two sides, it was Wales who eventually emerged victorious in the opening game of the Student World Cup following a 30-10 win in Batley.

Ruggit Wear gets behind rebel South African Rugby League student team

South African Rugby League is proud to announce RUGGIT Wear as the official sponsor of the 2013 Student World Cup Team. The team, although not recognized by SASCOC, will be travelling to Leeds in the United Kingdom to represent South Africa as they take on Wales, Ireland and England in the first round. A strong performance will see them face off against either of Russia, Scotland, New Zealand or Australia in the semi-finals.

South African Rugby League today announced the Team and Tour Captains for the 2013 Student Rugby League Team for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. Allan Kasselman from TUKS Rugby League will lead the team onto the field, and Christo Louw will ably assist him off the field and during the tour. Fanie Bredenhann, Director of Coaching for SARL, had the following to say” “Both players have shown exceptional dedication and commitment to be where they are today. With a touring captain and a team captain, we ensure that we have strong leadership both on and off the field.”
