England Students captain Mark Wilson believes the 2013 Student Rugby League World Cup could produce another Super League superstar.

Within the last two years, Former Leeds Metropolitan University players Jimmy Keinhorst and Alex Walmsley have made the step up into the professional ranks following spells in the student game.

“There’s a lot of untapped talent in the Student game, and supporters will get a good chance to see it up close at the World Cup.

South African Rugby League club Hurricanes enter Protea Cup Challenge

South African Rugby League today announced the formal registration of the first club from the newly formed North West Province. Long since thought of as a potential hotbed for new rugby league talent, the Stilfontein Hurricanes is the first club to complete the registration process.

Potchefstroom, a close neighbour of the Vaal Triangle (once a strong rugby league town), has a strong university and agriculture college and everyone is keen to see the progress they will make in the Protea Cup Challenge.

TUKS Rugby League hosts Great Britain & Ireland Academic Lions at Groenkloof Campus, Pretoria

The touring GB & I Lions played a friendly match against the current National Club Champions, Tuks, on Wednesday 17 September 2014. The home team started on the back foot when the match official awarded a penalty kick at the start for being late in to the field, and with ferocious attacking from the visitors, the team looked flustered and conceded a brace of tries at the start.

Training Group announced for SARL President’s Side to face Eastern Eagles Provincial Rugby League Team at Ermelo

SARL today announced the training squad that will be used to select a President’s XIII to play against the Eastern Eagles at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo this weekend, the 25th of October. The weekend is full of rugby league activities, with three big matches on the day, as well as a School’s Clinic. The President’s XII form part of the national squad preparations for the upcoming tour against the British Community Lions in November 2014.
