Kidwell to help Kiwis with 2014 Four Nations campaign

Ex-Kiwi David Kidwell will assist former international team-mate Stephen Kearney at the helm of the NZ national team for this year's Four Nations tournament.

Born in Christchurch, the tough second rower played 241 NRL first-grade games and 20 tests for New Zealand, culminating in success at the 2008 World Cup.

England coach Steve McNamara has named a 34-man squad for the mid-season training camp at Loughborough University from June 15-17 in preparation for the 2014 Four Nations in Australia and New Zealand.

The players are drawn from eight First Utility Super League clubs and comprises the nucleus of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup squad, with the addition of players from the England Knights programme.

England coach Steve McNamara has told the players who played in Rugby League World Cup 2013 that they have the ability to determine whether they will be involved in this year’s Four Nations tournament.

McNamara has also thrown down the gauntlet to every English player in the First Utility Super League to play their way into his plans for the tournament in Australia and New Zealand this autumn, details of which were announced today (Thursday).
